Gunmen kidnap 10 civilians at fake checkpoint

(Voices of Iraq) - Unknown gunmen forced ten civilians at gunpoint to unknown place on Thursday after they positioned a fake checkpoint north of Baghdad, eyewitnesses said. "Unknown gunmen positioned a fake checkpoint, this afternoon, on the road linking Hibhib town and Jidiydat al-Shat district, 55 km north of Baghdad, and forced ten civilians at gunpoint to unknown place," an eyewitness told the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI). Another eyewitness said "the gunmen intercepted civilian cars at the fake checkpoint and forced ten civilians out of their cars at gunpoint to unknown destination." Police could not be immediately reached to confirm the incident.
