Islamic State of Iraq releases video of attack on abducted U.S. soldiers

(SITE) - The Islamic State of Iraq, an umbrella insurgent group comprised of al-Qaeda in Iraq and others, and its official distributor and producer of multimedia, al-Furqan Foundation for Media Production, produced a 10:41 minute video of the planning and attack of an operation in southern Baghdad where three American soldiers were captured. The video was issued to jihadist forums on Monday, June 4, 2007.
Titled, “Clash and Capturing Three Americans in the Governorate of Baghdad”, the video presents itself as a propaganda piece aimed at showing the failure and alleged refusal of the American military and U.S. President George W. Bush to care for the blood of its soldiers. Three American soldiers, Pvt. Byron Wayne Fouty, Spc. Alex Ramon Jimenez, and Pfc. Joseph Anzack, were captured following a clash between the Mujahideen of the Islamic State and an American patrol in al-Mahmoudiya on May 12, 2007; one of the soldiers, Anzack, was confirmed killed when his body was discovered in the Euphrates Rivers.
Narration speaks condescendingly of the American military and its refusal to heed the warnings of the Islamic State of Iraq to cease their search for the soldiers, else they would be killed, and explains that the soldiers conducting the search abused Muslims. Thus, the narrator explains that the soldiers were announced dead to end the search.
Other portions of the video include the field commander of the brigade explaining the plan of attack, footage of the nighttime attack, and the response of the U.S. military in conducting a search for the captured as reported by al-Jazeera Arabic television. Items allegedly taken as plunder and personal effects from the soldiers from the scene of the attack include a pistol, VISA and Mastercard, fifty-dollar bills and Iraqi currency, clippings, and other identification. The final scene shows the identification cards of Pvt. Fouty and Spc. Jimenez with text written above reading: “Bush is responsible for the captured”. The status of the two captured soldiers, Pvt. Fouty and Spc. Jimenez, could not be verified.

Islamic State of Iraq claims assassination attempt on Chalabi

(SITE) - The Islamic State of Iraq, in five of their several communiqués issued between Monday, May 21, 2007, and yesterday, claims the attempted assassination of former deputy Iraqi Prime Minister Ahmed Chalabi, three operations allegedly resulting in a total number of thirty-nine American casualties, and a “bold and strange” operation executed by the Mujahideen in al-Mosul. Also, al-Furqan Foundation for Media Production, the official distributor and producer of multimedia for the Islamic State, issued a one-minute video depicting the detonation of an improvised explosive device (IED) on an American Hummer in the area of Abu Thar al-Ghafari in Diyala.
The assassination attempt on Chalabi by the Islamic State of Iraq occurred yesterday and involved the firing of mortar shells at an area in Bahrez, in Diyala, followed by gunfire. Attacks listed by the group against American forces took place in Baquba and al-Tahrir in Diyala and al-Ameriya in Baghdad, between May 16-17 and May 19. In one of these attack, an IED containing a “very explosive” substance was detonated on the soldiers in Baghdad, striking a vehicle and “inside were the cross worshippers who were fuel for this burning fire”.
In al-Mosul on Wednesday, May 16, the “strange” operation which the Islamic State claims involved the Mujahideen dressing as male nurses and infiltrating a hospital to free six detainees from their group, two of which were to be executed by the enemy. According to the message the Mujahideen killed the guards watching their members and escaped the hospital quickly without any person noticing.

Nine employees of the MOI and MOD executed by Islamic State of Iraq

(SITE) - The Islamic State of Iraq, through its al-Furqan Foundation for Media Production, issued to jihadist forums, Thursday, May 10, 2007, a one-minute video depicting the gunshot execution of the nine captured employees of the Iraqi Ministries of Interior and Defense.
A prior video released by the group on Monday showed these individuals bound and standing in front of the Islamic State’s flag, as demands for their release within a 72-hour period were made of the Iraqi government. These demands, including the release of female Sunni Muslim prisoners and the turnover of Shi’ite police officers allegedly guilty of the rape of Sabrin al-Janabi and women in Tal Afar, mirror the demands made by the Islamic State in similar incidents for the past two months, which went unheeded.
After a message declaring that the deadline had passed and the Shari’a Court had decided to implement the “Rule of Allah” upon the captured, the scene cuts to outdoor footage of each prison bound and blindfolded, and shot in the back of the head one-by-one by the executioner.
The group behind the executions also demanded that the government hand over officers it said were involved in the killing of Sunni Muslims in the northern town of Tal Afar but gave no details of the events. An old audio recording from a statement by Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, al-Qaeda's Iraq wing leader, was edited into the tape, calling for retaliation after the alleged rape.
"Destroy their checkpoints, invade their camps, severe their limbs, wrench their hearts out of their bodies. Today is the day of battle. Today we wipe off the disgrace. Today we shed blood," he said. On April 19, the group issued a video showing the killing of another group of 20 Iraqi soldiers and policemen who it claimed to have kidnapped in retaliation for the rape.

Islamic State of Iraq shows nine captured security guards
(SITE) - The Islamic State of Iraq, in several communiqués issued to jihadist forums between Monday, May 7, 2007, and Tuesday, May 8, reported harvest of operations reports for Baghdad and Diyala, and claims for attacks, of which in three, the group provides details for a large-scale operation Samarra and attacks in Baquba and Abu Ghraib.
The group also issued an 8:16 minute video today through al-Furqan Foundation, showing nine captured employees from the Iraqi Interior and Defense Ministries, including five officers ranging in rank from first lieutenant to captain. Each individual states their name and position, and the Islamic State makes the same demands of the Iraqi government for their release as they have made in prior arrests: giving a 72-hour deadline for the release of Sunni Muslim women from prison and for those Shi’ite police officers who allegedly raped Sabrin al-Janabi and women in Tal Afar to be turned over.
In Baquba, in the governorate of Diyala, yesterday, the Islamic State claims its Mujahideen detonated a large improvised explosive device (IED) on a Stryker armored vehicle that exploded with such intensity that it flipped a vehicle behind the Stryker. Fifteen American soldiers and a journalist who accompanied them are stated to have been killed, and vehicles on the scene were left burning for many hours. Media reports indicate that Dmitry Chebotayev, a Russian photographer, was killed in this attack along with six American soldiers. The previous day, Saturday, May 5th, a suicide bomber from the Islamic State detonated his car on a gathering of volunteers for the Iraqi army in Abu Ghraib. The attack, which was referenced in the statement of warning from the Islamic State’s Ministry of War to army volunteers, allegedly killed not less than 100 and injured another 150.

Islamic State of Iraq claims killing of Yazidis

The Islamic State of Iraq, an umbrella insurgency group consisting of various jihadi factions including al-Qaeda in Iraq, issued several communiqués to jihadist forums between on Wednesday, April 25, 2007, and Thursday 26th, claiming a litany of operations and denying claims by the enemy military. In four of these messages, one of which contains a 1:36 minute video produced by the group’s al-Furqan Foundation for Media Production, the Islamic State claims the destruction of an American minesweeper of the type-RG-13 Nayala in Baghdad, a suicide bombing striking an Iraqi police checkpoint in the area of al-Bufraj in al-Ramadi, and killing 26 Yazidi people from the area of Bashika responsible for stoning to death a woman who converted to Islam.
Also, the group’s Ministry of War, which is head by the Emir of al-Qaeda in Iraq, Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, clarifies that a commander from their group was indeed killed by enemy forces in al-Anbar, but he was merely an emir of one of their brigades, not the Emir of the Western region as was claimed.
The attack on the people of the Yazidi religion in Bashika, near al-Mosul, is based on the stoning death of a woman from these people who converted to Islam. The text of the message provides a rendition of the murder, and threatens all “worshippers of Satan” to committed the act. The group’s killing of 26 Yazidis is indicated to be only part of the revenge operations for the Muslim woman. Also, the Islamic State further attempts to claim legitimacy as a governing and security entity by calling upon all converts from the Yazidi religion to seek its protection and care, reminding that the police in Bashika did not keep the safety of the woman; rather, they delivered her to her executioners.

Islamic State of Iraq claims downing of Apache helicopter

(SITE) Al-Furqan Foundation, the official distributor and producer of multimedia for the Islamic State of Iraq, issued on Saturday, March 17, 2007, a five-minute video within its series, “The Hell of the Romans and the Apostates in the Land of Two Rivers [Mesopotamia/Iraq]”. The video depicts a “unique operation” to destroy an American tank in al-Ramadi, in al-Anbar governorate, by a Mujahid planting material beneath the tank. The individual twice goes under the tank for this purpose. Afterwards the explosives are detonated, and footage of the explosion is shown three times, before the scene settles on a blaze erupting from the tank.
Also, among the group’s communiqués issued today, the Islamic State of Iraq claims responsibility for downing an American Apache helicopter in the area of Jibbah, in Haditha yesterday. According to the message, eyewitnesses reported that the helicopter was hit by hostile fire from the ground, forcing it to land outside the area, after which “Crusader” forces surrounded the site.
